Note
There is much confussion & diffences of opinion as to where Thomas Bliss came from in England, who he married, etc. for which each opinion has it's own reference/s. So, I am going to put down my own opinions.
Thomas Bliss & his sons were severly persecuted by Archbishop Laud and lost most of their wealth before coming to America. He probably married MARGARET HULINS (HULLILNGS), daughter of JOHN & MARGARET HULINS around 1614 in England. They probably migrated with four of their children to Boston in Massachusetts Bay to Braintree around 1638. He was granted 35 acres of land there in 1639.
By 1640 they were living in Hartford in the Colony of Conn. where he was a landowner along with his son, THOMAS, JR. On March 4th, 1646, "Tho: Blissse" was fined two shillings for not training.
The names of Thomas Bliss Sr. & Thomas Bliss, Jr. are on the Founders Monument in this cemetery.
Thomas Bliss of Hartford had a nuncupative will, which required the testimony of John Pinchon & Henry Smith that his property went to his wife. His daughter, Mary Parsons of Springfield, Mass. also testified to this fact. His inventory, taken February 14, 1650 by Nathaniel Ward & Joseph Mygatt, amounted to 86 pounds, 12 shillings, and 8 pence. On February 20, 1650/51, the administration of his estate went to the relict (Margaret). She was to keep the whole estate for her use and the education of the children during her life - then to divide it among the children.

Note
Springfield records show that Margaret arrived in Springfield 1646 and resided there 38 years, until her death 1684.
Opinions differ about Margaret, her maiden name, her children and her arrival in Springfield. pport her birth date or her maiden name. The Bliss family history is a constantly changing as information, especially DNA is determined. There are some that are suggesting her maiden name was Hulins/Hulings or Lawrence and that her birth 1595 Jul 15. At one time there was a Bliss family monument however it's location has not yet been determined. It is probably a cenotaph monument as Margaret died in 1684 before headstones. According to the history of Springfield no remains or momuments for the majority of the dead buried in the Old Burying ground was able to be relocated to area cemeteries. Some of what was recovered was moved to Springfield Cemetery which opened in 1841, 157 years after Margaret's death.
Widow Margaret Bliss died 1684 Apr 28
Cenotaph marker at Springfield Cemetery when earth and 517 stones moved to mass grave in 1848 to make way for Railroad. There is no documentation to show or headstone in Springfield Cemetery to show Margaret was included in this relocation. There is documentation regarding a family monument created by her family which includes her name. The family may have elected to relocate her to a place where their family & monument currently rests.
Many are referencing old information on the internet. The Bliss family has changed their information. They are retracting that Thomas Bliss of Hartford is from Belstone and that Jonathan and George are not his brothers.

George, William, and John Blysse succeeded their father at the forge in Daventry and at Staverton."
"William Blisse, Jun. (William, Richard, Richard), of Daventry, brother of George Bliss, Sen., of the same and of John Blisse of Preston Capes, and third son of William Blysee, blacksmith of Daventry who died in 1574, was born circa 1556-58. He received by his father's will 'all my tooles and all things that p'tayne to my forge at Daventry.' He married shortly after the death of his father, and before 1580. If the marriage occurred at Daventry no record of it was entered in the register of the church in either that or in any other of the sixteen towns adjacent to Daventry, in so far as it is now possible to determine....Thomas Blisse, son of William Jun., named his secondand third daughters also Mary and Jane....."
William Jun. had a son William:
"1580 Willm Blisse bap. yet vth of June." {This William did not leave England as his brother Thomas did."
