Note
Saint Clodoald (522 – c. 560), better known as Cloud, was the son of King Chlodomer of Orleans.
[edit] LifeClodoald was raised in Paris by his grandmother, Saint Clotilde. He was one of three brothers, all of whom were targeted for assassination by their uncle, Clotaire I. Clodoald's brothers, Theodoald and Gunther, were killed by Clotaire when they were ten and nine respectively, but Clodoald survived by escaping to Provence.[2]
Clodoald renounced all claims to the throne, and lived as a studious hermit and disciple of Saint Severinus of Noricum.[1]
Visited by many for counsel and healing, Clodoald in effect gained nothing by keeping himself remote from society. He therefore returned to Paris, where he was received with joy. At the people's request, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Eusebius of Paris in 551, and served the church for some time.[2]
Clodoald established a holy place at Nogent-sur-Seine that is now a collegiate church of canons regular called Saint Cloud wherein his relics are kept. The village hosting his tomb was renamed Saint-Cloud accordingly.[2]
Clodoald's feast day is September 7 560.

Note
Chram (or Chramn) (French: Chramn or Chramne, meaning Raven in Old Frankish)[1] (died 561) was a son of Chlothar I and his fifth wife, Chunsina.[2].
Chram rose in rebellion against his father Chlothar, a king of the Franks, on several occasions. Following one of these rebellions, he fled with his wife and children to the court of Chanao, the ruler of Brittany, pursued by his father. Chlotar gave battle to the combined forces of Chanao and Chram, and his army was successful; the Breton leader was killed, and Chram, delayed in making his escape by sea because of his concern for his family's safety, was captured. Chlothar gave orders that they should be burned, but Chram was strangled before being placed in a cottage,[3] which was subsequently burned. Chlothar reportedly died of remorse later that year.

Note
Galswintha (540–568) was the daughter of Athanagild, Visigothic king of Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula, comprising modern Spain and Portugal), and Goiswintha. Galswintha was the sister of Brunhilda, queen of Austrasia; and the wife of Chilperic I, the Merovingian king of Neustria.
Galswintha and Chilperic were married at Rouen in 567, but soon afterwards she was murdered at the instigation of Chilperic's mistress Fredegund, who then married him. Chilperic in turn was murdered by Fredegund in 584.[1]
Galswintha's death aroused the enmity of her sister Brunhilda against Chilperic, bringing about 40 years of warfare between the Frankish kingdoms of Austrasia and Neustria.
